Recreation is a prime attraction for those visiting Heard County. With direct access to some of the best crappie and bass fishing in the state, thousands of fishermen are drawn to the Chattahoochee River and the headwaters of West Point Lake, a 25,900 acre reservoir, each year. Highland Marina is a popular lake destination.

Chattahoochee Bend State ParkChattahoochee Bend State Park covers almost 3,000 acres of beautiful countryside, including seven miles of river frontage. The park, which borders Heard County to the northeast, is in northwest Coweta County along the banks of the Chattahoochee River. The State of Georgia purchased the property in the late 1990's as part of a larger effort to preserve untouched riverfront properties throughout Georgia. The first phase of the project began construction in the Fall of 2009 and opened in 2011. The park currently provides passive recreation only.
Chattahoochee Bend is Georgia's fifth largest state park.Learn More about Chattahoochee Bend at GaStateParks.org
